After the recent trade of quarterback Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts, there will now not be a single QB drafted in the first round between 2009 and 2016 that is still with his original team. That’s zero of a possible twenty-two!
Since 1990, twenty-six quarterbacks have been selected with the number one or number two draft pick. Only two have ended their careers with the team that drafted them: Andrew Luck (Colts) and JaMarcus Russell (Raiders).
The 2016 New England Patriots had more starting Quarterbacks (three) than interceptions thrown. The Patriots finished the regular season 14-2 and set the record for the fewest interceptions thrown by a team with just two in the regular season! Starting QB Tom Brady was suspended for the first four games of the season due to his alleged role in the Deflategate scandal, marking the first time since 2008 that Brady didn’t start a game. Under backup QB’s Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett, the team went 3-1 during Brady’s suspension.
